JFTC Issued a Cease and Desist Order to Google LLC

On 15 April 2025, the Japan Fair Trade Commission（JFTC） issued a cease and desist order to Google LLC(press release).

By the JFTC’s judgment, Google LLC has been committing an act that violates the provision of the Article 19 (falling under paragraph (12) [Trading on Restrictive Terms] of Unfair Trade Practices) of the Act.

Under Trading on Restrictive Terms, a surcharge payment order will not be issued. However, it is significant that the JFTC has officially approved Google LLC of a violation.
